About SparkON
Study for the test.
Build a collection.
SparkON is a free study website and a collectible card game. The website explains the big ideas in math, physics, chemistry and biology. The cards turn those ideas into something you want to collect, trade and play with.
The problem
Before a test, most of us do the same thing: read the textbook again, watch a random video, and hope it sticks. Free study help is everywhere, but it is scattered and easy to forget. Card games are the opposite. People spend hours on them, learn every detail by heart, and remember them for years. But they teach nothing about science.
SparkON puts the two together.
The website: free for everyone
Every key idea gets one short page, in plain language. What the idea is. Why it works. What it lets you predict. And how tests usually ask about it. There is a practice question on every page, with the answer hidden until you are ready.
The website will always be free. Anyone can use it, whether they buy cards or not.
The cards: every idea is a card
Each card has the idea on the front, with a picture and when it was discovered. The back has the idea in one sentence, the formula, what it predicts, and how tests ask about it. A QR code takes you straight to the full page on the website.
Cards come in starter decks and booster packs, and they have rarities, just like the card games people already love:
- Common: the core ideas every course needs.
- Rare: famous discoveries, with a silver frame and a holographic shine.
- Legendary: the biggest ideas in science, like Newton's laws and DNA, framed in gold.
Even the rarity teaches something. Element cards are as rare as the element is on Earth. Oxygen is everywhere, so it is common. Gold is rare, so it is legendary.
The π Mystery: one in the world
Plans for the full product include one card that exists only once. The π Mystery card is designed in brushed metal, with π in real gold foil and its digits running round the edge, to be hidden in one random booster pack. Serial-number registration on the website is a planned prototype feature and is not live yet.
π was chosen because it is the perfect mystery: every circle has it, and its digits never end.
Lab Duel: the game
Lab Duel is for two to four players. You turn over a challenge card with a real situation, like “Stop a car doing 20 metres per second within 30 metres.” Players play a card from their hand that solves it, and explain why in one sentence.
The back of the challenge card lists the answers that count. Solve it and you keep the challenge. Combine two cards that both work and you score double. First to five wins (full challenge deck; the small prototype uses a highest-score finish — see Lab Duel).
The only way to win is to use the science correctly. So every game is also revision, without it feeling like revision.
Who makes SparkON
SparkON is a real education product project by Alex: free science study pages, collectible knowledge cards, and the Lab Duel game. The explanations and card designs on this site are part of that project.
Contact for the project is through the channels on this site (including the demo order form on Get the cards) until a dedicated contact address is published here.
What happens next
SparkON is starting with ten concept cards and three challenges as a playable prototype — made by hand, printed, laminated and cut — and tested in real game rounds. Feedback from players shapes what goes into professionally printed decks and the next sets of cards for each course.
